Hello! My name is Julie Blevins and I teach 8th grade American Citizenship at Northview. American Citizenship is a great course for middle school students. We spend time studying what it means to be a citizen of the US and how our government works. Current events play a large role in our class and we will also incorporating many uses of technology throughout the year. I have been teaching at Northview since 2000. Along with teaching, I am also a teacher sponsor of Northview's Student Leadership Council.
I received my undergraduate degree in Social Science from the University of Northern Iowa with emphasis in US History, US Government, and Sociology. My master's degree in secondary education is from Viterbo University. I taught for one year at Urbandale Middle School before coming to Northview. I am married with four children, which keeps me very busy outside of school. I love to be outside and enjoy spending time with family along with reading and Nebraska Cornhusker football. I am available before school from 7:45-8:20 am and after school until at least 3:45 pm daily. My planning times are from 10:41-11:24 am and 2:28-3:11 pm except on Wednesday when they are 11:58 am,-12:50 pm and 2:56-3:35 pm.
